Animal Facts:

The Anomalocaris, meaning "abnormal shrimp," was one of the most fearsome predators of the Cambrian seas, over 500 million years ago! Measuring up to 3 feet (1 meter) long, it was gigantic for its time and a top predator in its ecosystem. With its large, spiked appendages, it snatched prey, and its circular, toothy mouth crushed hard shells, earning it the nickname "the terror of trilobites."

Interestingly, early fossils of Anomalocaris were so puzzling that scientists initially thought its parts belonged to multiple different creatures—a shrimp, a jellyfish, and even a sponge! It wasn’t until later discoveries that these pieces were assembled into the magnificent creature we now know.

This fascinating predator is a reminder of how strange and wonderful life was in Earth’s distant past!

Hi ! Klarisse the anomalocaris has been trying to eat my blåhaj plush for days now (unsuccessfully), so I guess she's healthy and active – despite being a bit troubled by her forced cohabitation with other super-predators such as sharks in my bed-ocean. Anyway, this lil plush is very cute and cuddly, I recommend!

Store owner replied: Thank you so much, Emma! 😂 We’re delighted to hear Klarisse is a healthy, active Cambrian apex predator and that your bed-ocean ecosystem (sharks, blåhaj & all) is still in balance. Please keep us updated on further interspecies diplomacy. 🌊🦐💙

Absolutely adorable! I almost cried when I saw the little bow on this guy, which made him a perfect birthday gift for my sweet boyfriend. Such a good size, bigger than I anticipated and soo soft! Though, not so much a cuddly plushie and more of a display kind of guy. But that would never warrant any less than 5 stars!
