De jättebläckfisk (Architeuthis dux) är en kolossal djuphavsdjur, känd för sin extraordinära storlek och mystiska natur. Honorna kan bli upp till 12 meter långa och har de största ögonen i djurriket – upp till 27 cm i diameter – perfekt för att upptäcka byten i havets mörka djup.

Beväpnad med åtta armar, två långa tentakler och vassa, tandade sugkoppar jagar jättebläckfisken djuphavsfisk och andra bläckfiskar. Den använder sin kraftfulla näbb och sin tänderförsedda tunga för att strimla sin föda.

Jättekalkosbläckfisken, ett favoritbyte för kaskelotvalar, ses sällan levande, vilket ger näring åt legender som Kraken. Fascinerande nog tyder genetiska studier på att alla jättebläckfiskar tillhör en enda global art!

I was unaware that the item was shipping from abroad so unfortunately it arrived after Christmas even though I paid for express shipping. My nephew was delighted with it, he is really into giant squids right now so he forgave the shipping delay. Overall very happy with the product!

Mr. Squid plushy found a wonderful home to a 10 year old boy who is fascinated by the giant squid and had plans to care for a pet squid...he found the next best thing in this plushy squid...named now Squidly...and Squidly has already been on a trip to the ocean for Christmas, though he stayed on the shores. While Squidly is fond of water, he has a preference for sleeping on a firm bed with ocean style sheets over being kept in an aquarium. The boy and his squid are happy to have found each other and hope to remain in each other's company for a long time to come.
