De Indiase maanvlinder (Actias selene) is een adembenemend nachtelijk wonder dat overal in Azië voorkomt, van India tot Japan en Sri Lanka. Deze mot, bekend om zijn lichtgroene vleugels met delicate roze en gele markeringen, lijkt te gloeien in het maanlicht. De mannetjes zijn sierlijke vliegers met lange staarten die roofdieren in verwarring brengen, terwijl de zwaardere en niet-vliegende vrouwtjes zich richten op het leggen van prachtig gevlekte eitjes.
