IL Falena lunare indiana (Actias selene) è una meraviglia notturna mozzafiato diffusa in tutta l'Asia, dall'India al Giappone e allo Sri Lanka. Nota per le sue ali verde pallido con delicate macchie rosa e gialle, questa falena sembra brillare al chiaro di luna. I maschi sono aggraziati volatori con lunghe code che confondono i predatori, mentre le femmine, più pesanti e incapaci di volare, si concentrano sulla deposizione di uova splendidamente screziate. Le larve subiscono un'incredibile trasformazione, iniziando come bruchi rossi con macchie nere prima di diventare di un verde brillante con spine gialle. Questi bruchi godono di una dieta varia, nutrendosi di piante come liquidambar, ciliegio, ibisco e persino banani.
