The Japanese common toad (Bufo japonicus) is a chubby, warty amphibian native to Japan’s forests, gardens, and ponds. As one of Japan’s most familiar toads, it’s also called the Japanese warty toad. Best of all, the Japanese common toad is listed as "Least Concern" by the IUCN, meaning populations are healthy throughout Japan, including on the large islands of Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku, as well as some introduced areas.
